Overview
Korean ("we", "our", or "us") is a Korean language learning application. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application and related services.
By downloading and using Korean, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please do not use our application.
Summary: Korean collects minimal data necessary to operate and improve the app. We use Firebase analytics to understand how users interact with our app. The app displays ads served by Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers and other data to show relevant advertisements. Vocabulary data is sourced from the Korean Basic Dictionary (krdict) provided by the National Institute of Korean Language. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Analytics — Firebase
Korean uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to collect and analyze anonymous usage statistics. This helps us understand user behavior, measure feature adoption, and improve the app experience.
Data Collected by Firebase
- Device model, OS version, and language settings
- App version, session duration, and timestamps
- Page/screen views, feature interactions, and custom event counts
- Crash logs and error reports
- General geographic region (country/city) based on masked IP addresses
- Device and app identifiers (such as Firebase Installation IDs, Android Advertising ID, or iOS IDFA/IDFV — depending on platform and user consent)
Firebase does not collect sensitive personal information such as your name, email, or precise location. Data is aggregated and used solely for statistical analysis and app stability improvements.
Firebase's Privacy Practices
Firebase processes data in accordance with Google's privacy policies. You can review Google's privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy and learn more about Firebase's privacy and security at: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
05
Advertising
Korean uses Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display ads within the app. Advertising revenue helps us keep the core features of the app free for all users.
Data Collected by AdMob
- Advertising Identifiers: IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) on iOS, or Google Advertising ID (GAID) on Android — used to serve and measure ads.
- Device & App Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, and language settings.
- IP Address: Used to determine approximate geographic location for regional ad targeting and is not used to personally identify you.
- Ad Interaction Data: Such as ad impressions, clicks, and interactions within the app.
- Tracking Technologies: AdMob may use cookies or similar technologies where applicable to support ad delivery, personalization, and fraud prevention.
App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS 14.5 and later, we display Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before accessing your IDFA. If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your IDFA to serve personalized ads tailored to your interests. If you deny tracking, AdMob will serve non-personalized ads based on contextual information only. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Personalized vs. Non-Personalized Ads
In regions where consent is required (such as the European Economic Area and the UK), we will present a consent dialog before enabling personalized advertising. You may opt out of personalized ads at any time by adjusting your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → turn off "Personalized Ads"
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization"
Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads from the app; it means you will see ads that are less relevant to your interests.
AdMob's Privacy Practices
AdMob processes data in accordance with Google’s privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data. For more information, please review:
